Resolved:
"The Roman Catholic Church is the true Church of
Jesus Christ according to the Scriptures."
[This debate will center primarily on the Scriptures we both accept, although the Fathers can be brought in secondarily -- I (P) accept the "burden of proof" in this debate]

This is a new idea I have for a proposal to debate the biblical and/or historical evidence for/against the Roman Catholic Church from the Scriptures and/or the first five centuries of historical Christianity. If you love James White, James G. McCarthy, William Webster, and/or (the more friendly) Norman Geisler and believe their writings, arguments and evidence are devastating against the claims of the Roman Catholic Church, Email me to discuss a possible Email debate (I know you are out there, I see you on the various boards, in Amazon.com reviews, and all over the Internet). I offer the following as a structure, but we can discuss where changes need to be made.....
J accepted the proposition for the debate. J was probably one of the top anti-Catholic evangelical apologists at the time, a non-denominational, baptistic, Protestant evangelical/fundamentalist and dispensationalist ('pre-tribulation rapture'), learning his arguments from James White, Eric Svendsen, William Webster, and other 'popular' anti-Catholic evangelical or Reformed apologists. He was very active on the AOL boards and Svendsen's NTRMIN (now defunct). P countered with the best 'Catholic Answers' apologetical arguments, so it was a decent 'clash' of the best Catholic versus Protestant evangelical biblical arguments and debate. Neither of us were 'formally' trained in apologetics and had no theological degrees (to my knowledge), so we were 'evenly' matched in my opinion. You be the judge. This online written debate took place in 2002.
Background to the Debate:
Have you read any of the following books? Do you believe they are true? Do you believe they can be defended? Do you think any of their arguments are sound? Would you like to discuss this in a friendly Email debate? (These are some of the more "scholarly" evangelical / fundamentalist Protestant books out there responding to Roman Catholic claims....)
or even more "controversial" or "sensationalist" books
